Have you ever been driving in traffic and come to an abrupt stop? Of course you have, we all have! As a native to Atlanta, I am all too familiar with the STOP & GO nature of the commute into the city to the point that it is seen as a fluke when traffic is actually moving.

Yet, as much as I try to prepare myself for the journey when I get on the road, sometimes the unexpected happens. Maybe a truck swerves into your lane and you have to quickly readjust. Maybe you zone out and realize you have to cross four lanes of traffic to get to your exit. Or, maybe you or another driver lose control of your vehicle and a collision occurs.

And it is in those moments…those moments of uncertainty, time stands still. What is a matter of seconds feels like an eternity. It feels as if someone hits the PAUSE button in the moment.

For the past few months, I’ve been living in that PAUSE in so many ways. But rather than fear it, I’ve come to appreciate it. I appreciate it, because it has forced me to prioritize and focus on what matters most.

So for the next handful of posts, I want to share a little of my story and the principles I’ve learned in this waiting period when it comes to self-care, marriage, family, and vocation.

I’ve not yet arrived to the outcome as I am still living in the tension of what was and what will be, but it is my hope that you and I can grow together in the interim.
