You have had the opportunity to enter into areas of your life in which you have unfinished business and to begin bringing those issues or tasks to completion. We have taken a hard look at avoidance patterns and judgments around areas of un-forgiveness. We have unraveled a few myths along the way, myths that hold us back, and hopefully chosen to release ourselves from these lies.
You have also probably experienced some pitfalls that have derailed you from your commitment as well. But hopefully you’ve realized you have a supportive framework to assist you in such a time. Things like a coach who’s going to coach you through this, as well as the fact that this process is designed with a beginning and an end.
But one resource you probably having tapped into all that much is the way your commitment has been spoken. In other words. it’s time to re-write your vision! Okay maybe not re-write, rather just time for you to get more specific.
We are going to do the hard work of bringing some order and distinction to your vision and clear up any vagueness or generalities in order to narrow our commitments into something concrete and tangible. Because when your declaration becomes distinct and specific, you gain tremendous leverage toward success.
This part of the process in not about modifying your mandate or making it into something that supports your emotional needs; rather it is about increasing clarity so that you have a clearer picture of what you are up for and how you are going to move.
So, let’s go back to the action conversation you need to have with yourself, by asking yourself this question: what am I avoiding? Because what you have avoided is the very thing that could tip the scales in your favor. Meaning through the confrontation of what you avoiding, a reconciliation can be generated toward a future with having an increase of using your energy to grab around your past.
This requires naming the old habits and declaring what will be new, in their place.
Old Habit: procrastinating and telling myself I can’t.
New Discipline: setting specific deadlines for specific tasks and not allowing yourself to engage in self-deprecation.
And the great thing is, there are tons of resources accessible to you! If you need support from other people, remember, you are not alone, you can have the support you need–so ask for help! There is no value in pretending to be the Lone Ranger. Consider those who will benefit from your declaration and make a list of the persons or groups they represent. This list is filled with potential resources.
And as you do so, get clear about the results your vision and commitment will produce. Know what these results will be and by when you will achieve them.
It’s time to make it happen!
