“It doesn’t matter how you start, what matters is how you finish.” I love this saying as it relates to the topic of this post because it is all about finishing well. This is not a time to go lax on the details, but rather evaluate your commitment and do what is required to complete the task at hand.
So to begin, I suggest that you investigate. Ask the right questions and don’t assume that just because you feel like you have achieved your goals that the declaration is complete. Be sure to find out if you have some unfinished business and take the opportunity to manage the details.
Finishing well is important not because is looks good, but because it is foundational to everything that comes next for you. Success is not just the completion of your goal, it is measured by the sustained fulfillment of the commitment thereafter.
Previously, we talked about identifying clear results. The next step is to establish the platform from which new decelerations are born. And it is my hope that you have gained the fundamental tools necessary for achieving a declaration, for transforming a vision into a reality. Tools such as:
- Clarity. Clarity in thinking and in vision.
- Energy. When you complete task you felt impossible.
- Motivation. A capacity to make clear and distinct decisions without being held back from fear.
Still, at the end of the day, what keeps us going, what keeps us on track toward a new future has nothing to do with how we feel at any given moment. What stays the course in transformation is the power of our commitment: looking into the future and making new decelerations that will continue to pull us forward regardless of how I am relating to myself or my circumstance.
My commitment determines who I am and who I will become.
To recap, you have learned a lot through this journey. You’ve learned…
- Determine what is needed to fill the gap between what is needed and having what you want in life.
- Keeping you past in the past and not allowing it to determine the future.
- Take responsibility for completing unfinished business.
- Enter forgiveness and to release judgments that have held you back.
- Step into difficult conversations and to seek support and help where you have needed it.
And now you get to finish well. Have you life be a life of your design.
Congratulations on finishing The Journey!
